The Browbeating is Over (for now)

If you are thinking possibly it is me browbeating the children, think again.  Finally they are quietly watching a show in Spanish while happily eating watermelon.  It seems like a miracle to me when all three are quiet.  Statistically that is a difficult task.

It has been a pretty good day though.  This is the last day of my husband's week off and he is building an indoor/inside the garage doghouse for our two doggies.  It has an opening to the back yard with an awesome deck for them.  They will be living large.  We even bought house numbers for their new little "condo".  They're getting all this special treatment because they had taken over my sunroom and since my 7lb shorkie is too lazy to leave and venture far into the yard to do his business, it was overrun with tiny black "cheetos" and pee pee to go with it.  Needless to say, sitting out there, drinking a cup of coffee and relaxing, was NOT happening.  So I have reclaimed the sunroom, booted the doggies out and now we are making a wonderful dog house for the little buggers.

My son has been screaming/crying all day.  I'm pretty sure the aspartame in my husband's diet cokes from the corner store has been messing with his mood.  We don't let the kids have anything like that anymore, due to his mood swings, but my husband leaves the drink around and he steals it and takes sips.  I'm pretty sure this is what's happening the past few days, since he has been really difficult.  It's like having a drunk person around.  One minute they are crying that they love you and clinging to your leg (if you're a really short drinker) and the next minute they are furious and it's all your fault!  This emotional rollercoaster has me done for.

Had to walk away and clean up the watermelon juice my son has poured all over the floor.  I'm back now obviously.  Anyway, where was I?  Oh yeah, monitor the diet coke at all times! He should be fine in a day or two once it has all cleared out.

So I had made some Gluten Free (GF) biscuits the other day from a regular recipe my mom had given me.  I am a great cook but not a great baker so I couldn't remember exactly how much baking powder she had said so I just eyeballed it.  And since they didn't rise and were basically biscuit flavored teacake looking things, I clearly didn't put enough.  So today I decided to make the scone recipe from the same website.  You obviously add sugar and some other things but the base of it was about the same.  I added the correct amount of baking powder and AMAZINGLY they rose and turned out great!  I'll be sure to add this recipe for anyone who is gluten free and also dye free so it's good for the kiddies.

Uggh, did I mention my son came to me earlier to let me know there was caca (poop) in my daughter Jersey's room?  So I am looking for one of the little black cheetos and Pax points to this little cardboard book and it has this little rabbit terd stuck between the pages.  I take one look at it and realize, I think this might be one of my son's poopies!  Yuck!!! I just threw the book in the garbage. Ha ha, I have no desire to read that book at bedtime again!!!

Well, I am off to do something useful (oh yeah, laundry).  Did I mention we are remodeling the kitchen and ever since the electrical is not working properly.  So we have many things in the house connected to extention cords.  That's really fun too because I am really clumsy and trip over everything.  I thought about this because the stupid washer is plugged in to one of the cords right now and the cord goes all the way across the living room because the receptable in the kitchen is not working either.  After several days of my husband saying "oh it's not a big deal, I can get it going again" he finally gave in and said he thinks we might need to call a guy to come out. hee  hee, ya think?  So I'm off.... I'm sure I'll be back to type away when I feel my sanity slipping. :-)
